Francine Berry, founding and principal partner of Berry & Associates, PC, is a leading intellectual property attorney with a unique record of licensing, counseling and dispute resolution success. Her practice encompasses patent, trademark and trade secret litigation and other areas of IP practice. Ms. Berry advises clients on issues including the scope and value of their patent protection, patent filing and licensing strategies, revenue generation, licensing negotiations, identifying partnership opportunities, and avoiding third party rights.

Ms. Berry has recently focused on representing clients in licensing and technology transactions; intellectual property asset management and strategy and; a wide variety of litigations and in numerous arbitration and settlement proceedings. She advises clients on the scope of intellectual property portfolios (theirs and others’), strategies for monetization, including out-licensing, litigation and IP sales and acquisitions. Ms. Berry has been the chief licensing negotiator, strategist and counselor for a patent portfolio estimated to have generated revenues in excess of $2 billion dollars. This portfolio has been the subject of the largest multi-district patent litigation in the United States, involving 270 defendants. Within the past two years, she has represented this portfolio in over a dozen complex arbitrations involving over 30 Fortune 500 companies. She is a member of the IAM World’s Leading IP Strategists.

Prior to Berry & Associates, Ms. Berry held a variety of senior legal positions at AT&T Corporation, including Chief Intellectual Property Counsel. At AT&T she was responsible for the strategic patent procurement program that filed patents at the rate of two per day. She also was responsible for defending and enforcing, through licensing and litigation, patent and trademark rights worldwide; drafting and negotiating numerous licensing, joint venture and technology agreements and; counseling senior management in all aspects of intellectual property. Ms. Berry was also previously with the law firm of Graham & James.

Ms. Berry received her JD from Northwestern University and is admitted to practice in California, New York and Nebraska.
